How much?/How many?
Students always mix up these two!
Why is so hard? Why can´t I use only one of these two? In portuguese we use only one, why there are two?
Well. the first thing you must think about is: There are two kinds of nouns
Countable and Uncountable. (oh this is hard... not that much!)
Countable nouns are the ones you can count like 1,2,3 ex: cars, bottles, t-shirts.
Uncountable nouns are the ones you can´t count 1,2,3 and you need to make use of some. Ex. some milk, some coffee, some time. (oh but you can think...oh i can count milk like 1,2,3. In this case the milk is in a bottle or a cup and you count like 1 CUP of milk....or do you buy milk by drops.)
Money is also one interesting case... i can count 1,2,3 too. In this case you don´t count the ammount of bills but their face value.(ex one dollar, two dollars)
The last one I will talk about is love..that is both uncountable and countable... confusing...a little bit, but to figure this one out you just need to think a little.
I´ll finish this post with a song that has this question:
How many loves make a life?

What are you doing? What's up? (wassup)
Most of all english teachers have said this once or taught this , But have you ever guessed how it would be a less formal version of it? Haven't you?
There are a lot of ways of saying it. Such as What´s going on or even what's up
Check this out!!
These ones are very old but it worth a look!
And the "white" version of it
